Two rescues have taken place on two separate mountains at the same time in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

On Mt Tibrogargan five hikers became stuck, with a call for help made to emergency crews about 5.30pm yesterday, April 22.

Several Queensland Fire Department crews including a specialty rescue crew and eight remote rescue operators were called to incident on Barrs Rd.

A fire spokeswoman said one of the hikers was able to make their way down to the mountain base on their own, but four still needed assistance.

The crews set up ropes to help rescue the other four, who were back on the ground by about 9.25pm and the last hiker was back at the car park by 9.45pm.

At the same time, two hikers also became stuck on Mt Beerwah.

The fire spokeswoman said the first crew arrived at that mountain just before 6pm.

She said three crews including a specialty rescue crew were called to that incident.

It is understood the hikers became stuck when the rain started.

The fire spokeswoman said the crews set up ropes and a harness to get them from a high point on the mountain onto a walking track and then the pair was walked out.

The pair was back on the ground and safe by 8.51pm.
