ANGLERS have received a festive gift with the Parkyn Pde boat ramp reopening with improvements.
The four-lane boat ramp was closed so $330,000 worth of resurfacing and lengthening works could be carried out to ensure safer all-tide launching for boats.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey was happy to see the works done in time for the Christmas holidays.
"This is a big win for the region, as the Mooloolaba Boat Harbour is one of the busiest harbours in the state for recreational boating, especially during peak holiday season,” Mr Bailey said.
There was some minor work on the upstream side boat ramp shoulders still to be finished and Mr Bailey said it would be done in 2019.
"Contractor SkillCentred Constructions Pty Ltd has advised the ramp can remain open for this work,” he said.
"The ramp shoulder area will remain fenced off for public safety.
"Boaties are advised to use caution when using the most upstream lane for launching or retrieval.”
The State Government's Marine Infrastructure Investment Program funded the works.
