A beloved dad of two has been left unable to move his limbs and is suffering significant nerve damage after being involved in a horror crash on the Sunshine Coast.
Louie Saa, 27, of Yandina, is recovering in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital after a Yandina motorcycle crash earlier this month.
A colleague of his from Coastline Trusses at Yandina, Jack Dreger, said it was an horrific crash.
“Louie was involved in a serious motorbike accident that has left him with a loss of feeling in his body and a long road to recovery ahead,” he said.
“He has been receiving treatment at Royal Brisbane Hospital ever since, and the accident has not only affected his health but also caused a significant loss of income.
“Louie’s wife has been making the daily journey from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane to be by his side, while also caring for their two young children (aged four and two) at home.”
The crash left Mr Saa with serious injuries.
“He couldn’t feel anything in his body when it first happened,” Mr Dreger said.
“Once at hospital he underwent emergency surgery to remove the pressure from his spine.
“He’s moved from the ICU to rehab and is back to having about 40 per cent feeling.
Mr Dreger said Mr Saa still could not feel or move his arms or legs.
“He had no bones broken but had blood pressure issues and damaged nerves,” Mr Dreger said.
“He’s also got some blood clots which have turned into infections.
“He’s in a pretty bad way.”
Mr Dreger said the financial strain was taking a toll on the family.
He launched a GoFundMe campaign to support them.
“We are asking for your support to help cover assist Louie’s family with day-to-day expenses as they navigate this challenging period, including the upcoming holiday season,” he said.
“Louie is an integral part of our team, and we are all rooting for his full recovery.
“He’s the happiest bloke. He works very hard and does everything he can for everyone. He’s just a really good guy.”
A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed a Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Country Coolum Drive in Yandina Creek, around 4.30pm on November 8.
