The source of a fresh Covid scare at Maroochydore Bunnings has been revealed as staff who came in contact with the positive case have been ordered to test and isolate.

Queensland prepares for border reopening

Maroochydore Bunnings staff members who came into contact with a contractor who has tested positive to Covid-19 have been told to get tested and isolate.

It comes after Queensland Health added the Dalton Drive store to its list of exposure sites, alongside the Buddina IGA supermarket.

Bunnings area manager Annabelle Jones said Queensland Health had advised a contractor had visited its Maroochydore store on December 6 and had since tested positive to the virus.

The contractor visited the store on Monday between 4.45am-9.15am.

It was understood a small number of staff came into contact with the contractor.

Queensland Health said it was a low risk visit.

All staff members at the store were identified and instructed to get tested and isolate until they return a negative test.

Ms Jones said the store was deep cleaned several times and able to open for trade.

“The health and safety of our team members and customers is our absolute focus,” Ms Jones said.

“We have got incredibly comprehensive Covid-19 protocols in place for hygiene and cleaning, across our whole store network which were developed in conjunction with advice from health authorities.

“This includes extensive physical distancing measures and deep cleaning of all stores daily, as well as undertaking regular cleans throughout the day. As an additional step, we have organised a further deep clean this morning before the store was open for trade.”

Queensland Health’s contact tracing listed the following as “low risk contacts”:

Sunday December, 5, IGA Buddina Supermarket at Point Cartwright Drive Buddina from 6am-6.45pm

Monday December 6, Bunnings Maroochydore at Dalton Drive Maroochydore 4.45am-9.15am
