IT'S time to kick up your cowboy boots, throw your finest Akubras in the air and practise your best two-step for Buderim's annual banging Bush Dance.

Friends of Buderim are at it again to bring the community together for a night of country tunes and a whole lot of yee-haws.

Chairwoman Marjorie White said the group was ecstatic to see how Buderim residents responded to the first event.

"The very first night we had it I thought it was rather going to be a hit or not work out,” she said.

"I looked in the door after the first strumming of the band and everybody was on their feet, it was amazing.

"I was so surprised to see that we had all these elderly people up on the floor all kicking their legs and thoroughly enjoying the night.”

Mrs White said the hoe-down wasn't just a chance to let your inner cowboy shine.

"It's brought a lot of people in Buderim out socially,” she said.

"Buderim is such a community-minded area and this is just a great opportunity to come together.”

Mrs White said the event brought back a lot of memories for the older generation in Buderim.

"When I was growing up all we did was go to dances,” she said.

"And we need fun these days. People leave the Bush Dance with a smile on their faces and want another one next year.”

Sunshine Coast covers band The Whiskey Mountain Boys will be bringing their own hillbilly thumping versions of the well-known party songs we all love.

The dance is on Saturday, September 7, from 6-10.30pm at the Buderim War Memorial Community Association hall.
