A boy who was struck by a car in peak hour traffic on one of the Sunshine Coast’s busiest roads is recovering in hospital and now in a stable condition.

Emergency crews rushed to Nicklin Way in Minyama about 4.30pm on Tuesday following a pedestrian and vehicle incident.

A nearby motorist told this publication they witnessed the boy, who is understood to be in his early teens, run across the road when they were “clipped” by an oncoming vehicle and “flew” into the air.

The witness said multiple people rushed to the boy’s aid as to see if they were okay.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the teenager was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition. It’s understood the child suffered a head injury.

A Sunshine Coast University Hospital spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday the boy was still in hospital, but was now in a stable condition.

Qld Traffic reported heavy congestion at the intersection of Nicklin Way near Kensington Dr heading northbound at the time of the crash.
