Caravan crashes and flips on Sunshine Motorway near Pacific Paradise

A person has been taken to hospital and motorists are being warned to expect traffic delays after a serious morning crash in which a car and caravan rolled.

A caravan being towed by a vehicle on a Sunshine Coast motorway has jackknifed and flipped, shutting lanes and causing traffic delays.

Queensland emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash on the southbound lane of Sunshine Motorway near Pacific Paradise shortly before 10am Thursday.

A Queensland Police spokesman said it is believed a car towing a caravan lost control, causing it to wobble, jackknife and flip.

The spokesman said it was possible the car had also rolled.

One to two southbound lanes have been closed while a tow truck arrived to remove the caravan, the spokesman added.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said paramedics arrived shortly before 10am and treated a man in his 50s who was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The crash comes just a day after a similar incident shut the Bruce Highway, with two people escaping serious injury when their car flipped while towing a caravan.
