Yo Chi, Fishbowl join retail boom in Sunshine Plaza
From a TikTok famous frozen yoghurt store to school shoes, here are the new shops to open and on the way at some of the Sunshine Coast’s major shopping centres.

A retail boom has hit a popular Sunshine Coast shopping complex with seven new retailers opening in the Sunshine Plaza in the past three months.
Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore has welcomed a range of new eateries and stores including Fishbowl and TikTok famous Yo Chi.
From Korean street food and self-serve frozen yoghurt to fast-food Japanese inspired salads, Sunshine Plaza centre manager Michael Manwaring said there is something for everyone.
“Sunshine Plaza remains the premier shopping destination on the Sunshine Coast, offering more than 300 stores and attracting 10 million visitors per year,” Mr Manwaring said
“The addition of seven new retailers this year has enhanced The Riverwalk dining experience with a mix of diverse foodie options from well-known brands.
“Our customers are growing and evolving so it’s important to create a shopping experience that has something for everyone as well as showcasing our local food culture.”
Big Top Shopping Centre, also in Maroochydore, has confirmed it will soon welcome a gelato store.
While in the south, Caloundra Shopping Centre is preparing to welcome several new operators into the fold in coming months.
Sunshine Plaza:
Momo Chicken
Korean street food is now available in Sunshine Plaza following the opening of Momo Chicken.
The popular restaurant chain is available for takeaway and deliveries, as well as a relaxed dine-in experience.
Gotcha Fresh Tea
One of 500 Gotcha stores across the globe this bubble tea store opened in Sunshine Plaza earlier this year.
Gotcha Fresh Tea is known among bubble tea fans for growing their own tea.
Oakberry
Acai bowls and smoothie lovers will be pleased with the latest Oakberry store opening in Sunshine Plaza.
Oakberry is a firm favourite when it comes to everything acai, vegan and organic.
Yo-Chi
Yo-Chi may just be one of the most anticipated store openings in Sunshine Plaza, with millions of Yo-Chi TikToks having been posted on the platform.
The self-serve frozen yoghurt store has amassed a cult following with vegan and gluten free options as well as more than 20 toppings.
Fishbowl
Fishbowl was another highly anticipated store opening in the Maroochydore shopping centre this month.
Self described as specialised salads with a Japanese twist the business aims to rival traditional fast food stores with their healthy and quick meals.
Luggage store Pera and youth clothing retailer Glue Store have also each opened stores in Sunshine Plaza in the past three months.
Caloundra Shopping Centre (formerly Stockland Caloundra):
Caloundra Shopping Centre’s senior leasing executive Matt Gleeson confirmed Williams Shoes would be opening up an outlet in the centre in “around August”.
He hinted there would be several other new stores to come, but was unable to reveal names at this stage.
Big Top Shopping Centre
Centre manager Jennifer Spratling confirmed the team was ready to welcome Artigiano Gelato to the centre in early June.
“We’re thrilled to confirm that Artigiano Gelato will open at Big Top early next month, adding to the diverse food and beverage offer at the centre,” Ms Spratling said.
“We look forward to sharing further exciting news about upcoming store openings with our community in the near future.”
