The brothers behind popular Palmwoods diner Rick’s Garage have unveiled the first of a host of expansion plans at the hinterland venue.

Tama and Ben Jamieson recently acquired the freehold property next-door to the diner where they’ve just opened Rick’s Bakehouse.

The pair, both former tradies, did the fit out themselves to open a “stylish” bakery complete with coffee, pies, sausage rolls and sweets all made in house.

It comes following the diner being named as the Sunshine Coast’s best burger spot earlier this year.

“We just wanted to offer the basics and be a burger bar that makes their own burger buns,” Tama said.

“The tradies love it, but all the feedback has been really positive.

“Next door used to be a cafe, always was, and when it came up online we jumped at the opportunity.”

The entrepreneur duo said they had no plans to leave Palmwoods but they said they wished to expand the Margaret St burger bar.

“We want to keep growing but just in Palmwoods, we never want to leave town,” Tama said.

“Moving forwards we want to expand to have a second kitchen and a third bar.

“We want to expand to have a smoked style kitchen which will be the cherry on top for us.”

Well known Sunshine Coast sports agent Shaun Pyne recently dropped in for a feed at the bakehouse.

Mr Pyne, the manager of Melbourne Storm superstar Cameron Munster, gave the boys a score of 47/50 with his quirky side gig Pyney’s Pie Reviews channel.
