Two new GYGs are opening next year, and construction on both will begin soon.

An Aura in GYG has recently been announced for Aura Blvd in Baringa, next to McDonald’s and other popular food outlets.

While some residents are excited, others have expressed concerns about traffic on Facebook.

The outlet is expected to create 85 jobs for upon its opening in mid-2026.

GYG Glass House Mountains

Another GYG is opening at a new servo redevelopment on the southbound section of the Bruce Hwy.

The new servo will offer a range of food options, with GYG the first to be unveiled.

GYG communications director Alison Peake said the restaurant would have a new owner.

“GYG is planning to bring a new franchisee on board for this restaurant,” she said.

“GYG is looking forward to being part of the Glasshouse Mountains community, employing locals and bringing GYG’s great food and awesome vibe to the area.”

A McDonald’s is also confirmed for the servo and three vacancies remain.

The Caloundra-based Vietnamese restaurant will open on Friday, November 14, on Bulcock St.

It offers classic and fusion Pho, fresh rice paper rolls, and salads.

The company already owns restaurants in other states, all of which serve Vietnamese food.

The American Hotdog Company

The American-style eatery has been operating on the Sunshine Coast region and surrounds for a decade, but has just opened up shop in the Maroochydore Big Top shopping centre.

They did a soft opening on Wednesday, November 5.

The brick-and-mortar shop offers hotdogs and other food items.

The owners of the newly opened Stav’s Kantina in Meridan Plains are bringing another more “formal” Greek restaurant to Kawana Shopping World.

The venue will have capacity for 250 diners and will offer a more restaurant-style setting compared to the “fast-casual” concept of Stav’s Kantina.

The hospitality veterans have owned multiple other restaurants including Green Zebra, Tziki Bar, Portobella and Circa Rooftop Bar.

Co-owner Adrian Chrisanthou said they envision having multiple restaurants.

“The ultimate vision is to have a restaurant empire of the same brand and to hand make absolutely everything, so everything’s totally unique to us.”

Stavros Bar and Restaurant will open on Monday, December 1, 2025.

Soul Origin

Australian and New Zealand cafe Soul Origin is opening its doors in Kawana Shopping World in early 2026.

They have over 170 stores across both countries.

According to the Soul Origin website, there are already discussions about expanding to more stores on the Coast.

They offer cafe-style food including salads, bao buns, wraps and coffee.

It is expected to open in early 2026.

Potential franchisors are invited as it plans to expand its presence on the Sunshine Coast.
