A fast food giant has shut down a popular Coast store in the hope it will find a new space capable of servicing drive-through customers.

Buderim residents no longer have a Red Rooster in their suburb, with its parent company Craveable Brands deciding not to renew its lease at the Burnett St site.

The last chooks came out of the oven on August 16.

The shop has been completely gutted since then.

It came after the store was temporarily closed in October last year when its former franchisee Sunstate Foods went into administration.

Company spokeswoman Lisa Owen said Craveable Brands was keen to open another restaurant in the Buderim area and had been looking to upgrade to a bigger site.

Ms Owen said the company wanted to offer a drive-through and delivery services.

"Actually, to help us on our search, if there are any landlords in the Buderim or Sippy Downs area that have a site that would accommodate a drive-through restaurant please get in contact," Ms Owen said.

She said all 14 staff from the Buderim store had been offered jobs at other Red Rooster restaurants and 12 of them had taken up the offer.

She said the company had no plans to open up any of its other brands, which include Oporto, at the Burnett St site.
