Bruce Highway Shell service station at Coochin Creek set for upgrade

Redevelopment plans for a 24-hour service station have been revealed in an application lodged with Sunshine Coast Regional Council this month.
De Luca Corporation Pty Ltd is seeking approval to redevelop an existing service station at Coochin Creek located southbound on the Bruce Highway over four stages.
The revamped facility would have five new buildings including an upgraded service station with 10 double-sided fuel pumps and three double sided truck pumps and four separate drive-through drink and food outlets.
The proposal said all buildings would be set back more than 10m from the Bruce Highway and 7-8m from the Wild Horse Rd frontage.
Located at 4288 Bruce Highway, Coochin Creek, the current Shell service station has a Hungry Jacks restaurant and Coles express.
The redevelopment will include an upgraded highway off-ramp along with a new entry and exit on Johnston Rd.
The new station will provide 188 new carparking spaces, 20 car refuelling positions with space for an additional 20 queuing vehicles, 12 truck parking spaces, six truck refuelling positions, 47 drive-through queue positions and 15 motorcycle spaces.
The existing facility already has 129 car spaces which would be retained to total 317 carparking spaces to “benefit highway travellers”, the proposal said.
According to the project plan, stage one will include two food and drink outlets and the new access road from Johnston Rd.
Stage two will comprise of the remaining two drive-through outlets and Stages three and four will include the service station and the new internal driveway.
One of the food and drink outlets will also have an outdoor dining area.
Landscaping features have been incorporated in the design to soften the look of the development with low garden planting, shade trees and individual garden beds proposed.
“Minimal earthworks are proposed as a part of this application and all proposed buildings and structures are contained within the site … about 47% of the site comprises landscape area,” the proposal said.
“No impact on the State-controlled road will result.”
