Bram Lloyd McKirdy charged with drug offences after alleged police chase
A man involved in a police search which forced a Sunshine Coast school into lockdown has appeared in court for the first time.

A butcher involved in a police manhunt on the Bruce Highway which forced a Sunshine Coast school into lockdown has appeared in court for the first time.
Mt Cotton man Bram Lloyd Mckirdy appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 7 and was represented by defence lawyer Brendan Whelan.
Mr Mckirdy has been charged with several drug offences after an incident on February 15 when police had received reports of a person driving dangerously on the Bruce Highway.
Police previously alleged the vehicle was intercepted and the driver fled on foot after he was involved in a traffic incident, but the man was later arrested in bushland following a search in the Yandina area.
Yandina State School on School Rd was locked down about 11am until about 12.30pm and no students or staff were hurt.
Mr Mckirdy was charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding schedule 3 but less than schedule 4, possessing dangerous drugs, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act, possessing anything for use in the commission of crime, possess utensils or pipes etc that had been used, possession of a knife in a public place or school and obstruct police officer.
Mr Whelan said in court on Thursday his office had received a court brief and asked for an adjournment to discuss the matter with his client.
Police prosecutor James Allen said he is awaiting a drug analysis certificate after police allegedly found 8g of cocaine when Mr Mckirdy was arrested.
Court documents revealed he was also allegedly in possession of diazepam, a knife, digital scales, and a water pipe.
Documents listed the 36-year-old man’s occupation as a butcher.
Magistrate Chris Callaghan ordered a brief of evidence to be completed by June 6 and adjourned the matter to June 21, 2024 for committal mention.
Mr Mckirdy’s bail has been enlarged.
