Fire and emergency services crews have been called to the River Markets shopping centre in Bli Bli on David Low Way.

Shoppers and staff at the centre were evacuated after smoke from a lift triggered the fire alarm around 10am Friday morning.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said there were three crews on scene with fire crews in breathing apparatus locating and extinguishing a small electrical fire on level four around 10.35am.

Both lifts were reportedly empty shortly after crews arrived with all persons accounted for.

Fire crews were continuing with a primary search with Queensland Ambulance Services also in attendance.

The centre is home to QML Pathology, Bli Bli Clinic, Jetts gym, Bli Bli Smiles dentist and a number of cafes and restaurants.

The incident comes after two car and caravan crashes occurred on the Bruce Highway earlier this week.
