An experienced family of chefs has bought a restaurant in the heart of the Sunshine Coast to offer their 27 years of Italian cooking to the region’s residents and visitors.

Biagio, Sarah and their son Joseph Biuso have bought the Bottarga Restaurant in the Maroochydore City Centre, marking the ninth venue the family has pioneered.

Ms Biuso said the trio have owned and operated Italian and Degustation restaurants in Queensland for the past 27 years and are excited to call Maroochydore home.

Since taking over the restaurant six months ago, the family has made improvements to acoustics, lighting and furniture, particularly focusing on an outdoor terrace for drinking and dining.

Ms Biuso said her family was most excited about building the business in the growing CBD as well as new long-lasting relationships.

“We love new challenges and meeting new people, which is why we generally move every five or six years, but we are keen to make Maroochydore our forever home,” she said.

“Our future plans for the venue are to continue to grow the business and focus on events and functions as this venue is well suited for all group sizes.”

Ms Biuso noted the family had always strived to achieve a “complete dining experience” by remaining hands-on owner operators of the venues to ensure consistency.

With each new business, the trio have learnt new skills to provide to their customers alongside their “passion” for quality dining through new menus and wine lists.

The family still operates their mobile fine dining restaurant Da Biuso for private events and functions, which won two Chef Hat Awards.

They also recently achieved the Two-Glasses award in the Wine List of the Year Awards.

Ms Biuso said location was a major consideration in their latest purchase, with continued growth expected in the Maroochydore CBD, particularly in anticipation of the 2032 Olympic Games.
