A Rebels bikie member’s time out of the watch house has been short-lived after police searched his house and found illegal steroids and a syringe.
Kevin Lindsay Murray, 65, was recently sentenced in March, 2022 for assaulting a woman who was holding a baby in January, 2022.
The court heard at the time of the assault, Murray was collecting his property including two horses from an address when an argument broke out and he started abusing a woman.
Police prosecutor David Hoffman said Murray yelled at the mother and poked her in the forehead with his finger, causing immediate pain to her head.
The woman said she nearly dropped her crying baby when Murray tried to grab her arm and snatch her phone.
“ … (Murray) grabbed her mobile and tried to break it by bending it in half,” a bail document stated.
“(He) then threw it to the ground and stomped on it three to four times resulting in the phone being bent and smashed.”
Murray was given nine months’ probation and no conviction was recorded.
A bail document viewed in March stated Murray was a current outlaw motorcycle gang member with the Rebels Sunshine Coast Chapter.
Appearing via the video link from custody on May 12, 2022, Murray pleaded guilty to two new charges of possessing dangerous drugs and failing to properly dispose of needle and syringe.
Police prosecutor Mark Burrell said officers searched his Mooloolah Valley home and found four vials of testosterone, along with syringes.
“He stated he purchased them online and used them to inject the steroids,” Sergeant Burrell said.
Solicitor Belinda Robinson said her client was exposed to domestic violence as a child up until the age of 17 when he left home.
Ms Robinson said Murray had been diagnosed with anxiety and was married for 16 years.
“It’s an early plea, he's demonstrated remorse and insight into his offending, he understands the seriousness,” Ms Robinson said.
Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist fined the 65-year-old $800 and recorded convictions against him.
