A waterfront venue on the Sunshine Coast has announced its shock closure, telling customers they had made a “difficult decision” and would be opening just one day per week.
The venue, Marina Bar and Bistro in The Basin at Pelican Waters, announced on social media on Tuesday night the venue’s final trading day would be Sunday, June 29.
“After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close the doors of our beloved Marina Bar and Bistro,” the post stated.
“This choice was not made lightly, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us, whether you popped in for a casual drink, celebrated a milestone with us, or simply made us part of your weekly routine.”
The venue’s social media page describes the bar and bistro as “waterfront dining at its best”, with handcrafted cocktails, tapas, produce and beer.
Live music was also performed weekly on Sunday afternoons, the page stated.
Marina Bar and Bistro opened in September 2024 and is operated by Sunshine Coast man, Simon Jones.
According to the social media post, the venue would continue to offer pizza nights on a Sunday, as well as private functions.
“This Sunday, June 29, will be our last day of regular trade, and you can still book for our Sunday Roast Lunch and Pizza Night,” the post stated.
“While our regular service is coming to a close, our popular Pizza Nights will continue on Sundays, and we are still available to host private functions and Special Events. “We’re also exploring the possibility of monthly themed pop-up nights, such as our recent Trivia Night. So, please stay connected with us for future announcements.”
