ABOUT 40,000 public housing tenants across Queensland will have their rent cut by between $5 and $10 a week under changes brought in by the State Government.
Queensland Housing Minister Mick de Brenni said
the change would help people such as those with disabilities and carers.
"Across the state the new Fair Rent Policy will benefit around 40,000 public housing tenants with an average decrease of between $5 to $10 in their weekly rent," he said.
"While reductions are dependent on household circumstances, around 38,000 seniors receiving a Pension Supplement are likely to see a savings of $8 a week. People on mobility allowances will save an average of $11 a week and 7000 carers will have around $7 a week back in their pockets."
