Steven Miles and David Crisafulli’s final pitch to Qld voters
Queenslanders will today decide who will run the state – Steven Miles or David Crisafulli – here’s what they want you to know as you head to the polls.

Queensland will today decide who will lead the state for the next four years.
As voters head to the polls, The Courier-Mail asked Premier Steven Miles and LNP leader David Crisafulli for their final message to Queenslanders.
Steven Miles is asking Queenslanders to let him continue the good work he says he has started, while David Crisafulli is asking voters to embrace a “fresh start”.
Both party leaders have grand pans for the state and have spent the past few weeks crisscrossing the state, talking to constituents about the issues that matter to them.
Here are their final pitches:
STEVEN MILES
Being Queensland Premier is the greatest honour of my life – an honour I do not take for granted.
Over the past 10 months, I’ve worked hard to make every day count, and set out my vision for this great state.
In that time I’ve spoken to as many Queenslanders as possible – at hospitals, schools, parks, pubs, town halls and at the grocery store. Thanks to our strong economy with low unemployment and taxing billionaire coal companies, we’ve been able to deliver the biggest package of cost-of-living relief in the nation, starting with at least $1000 off energy bills.
There area so $200 vouchers for kids’ sport, more free TAFE placements, free kindy and support for vulnerable Queenslanders and seniors. It funded 50c fares on public transport – all modes, all zones, all over the state. Every Queenslander is getting 20 per cent off their rego.
And if re-elected, I’ll launch the biggest intervention in primary care of any state to deliver 50 bulk-billing GP clinics across the state. We’ll also deliver free, nutritious lunches to all state primary school students.
Evidence shows these lunches will help manage childhood obesity, teach kids healthy habits and help them concentrate in the classroom.
Health care is the single most important service a government can deliver. I’m proud of the hardworking health heroes who work in our world-class hospitals.
I will hire more doctors, more nurses, more ambulance officers and more allied health professionals to work in our new and expanding hospitals, because only Labor is delivering more than 3500 new hospital beds.
That matters.
I launched our $3.1bn Homes for Queenslanders plan to build more homes faster, support renters, help first-homeowners, boost our social housing build and work to end homelessness.
That plan is making a difference in the lives of Queenslanders in need now.
I delivered new police helicopters in Townsville, Cairns, Wide Bay and the Sunshine Coast. These resources are key components of the evidence-based community safety plan I delivered, in partnership with the Queensland Police. It’s a plan underpinned by $1.28bn in investment. In my vision for Queensland’s future, there’s lots of hope.
One where a strong economy supports more jobs, better pay and more cost-of-living support, where we deliver cheap renewable energy to homes and industry 24/7. Where you can visit a doctor bulk-billed when you are sick.
I’m asking Queenslanders for my own mandate to keep going on the progress we’ve made in the 10 months I’ve had as Premier. In just 10 months, we’ve turned the corner on the issues that matter to Queenslanders. Crime, health care and housing are all heading in the right direction and we’ve put in place the biggest cost of living help ever. I’m asking for just one term as premier to continue the work I’ve only just started.
This election, ask yourself “am I sure?”.
Mr Crisafulli has spent the whole campaign failing to answer questions. So if you have any doubt at all about what he’d do, don’t vote for him. If you don’t know what he’ll cut, if you don’t know who he’ll sack and if you aren’t absolutely sure he won’t take away a woman’s right I choose, then don’t risk him.
If you’re not sure, don’t risk it.
The way we as Queenslanders win is by looking forward, not back.
Not all of the solutions are easy, and not all of them will happen fast.
But as your Premier I’ll do everything I can, big and small, every day to secure the future you deserve.
DAVID CRISAFULLI
After a decade of chaos and crisis under Labor, Queenslanders are still doing it tough. All Labor has left to offer are desperate scare campaigns and distractions.
The crises Labor has created affect every community and every family.
Today the question Queenslanders will ask is: are things getting better or worse when it comes to youth crime, health, housing and cost of living – and who has the right plan for Queensland’s future?
We need a fresh start for Queensland, and the LNP has the right plan to deliver it.
The LNP will end Labor’s youth crime crisis by holding young offenders accountable through adult crime, adult time, ensuring youth who choose to commit serious crimes serve real sentences. Gold standard early intervention will divert kids before they become entangled in crime and our detention with purpose and circuit breaker sentencing will deliver effective rehabilitation to break the cycle of crime.
We owe a fresh start for Queensland to the 289,657 Queenslanders who have been victims of crime this year.
We owe it to Russell Field, whose son Matt and his pregnant fiancee Kate were killed by a teenager on bail speeding in a stolen car, and we owe it to Cindy Micallef, whose mother Vyleen White was allegedly murdered while shopping with her six year old granddaughter, by a teenage carjacker out on bail.
If Queenslanders vote for change, the Making Queensland Safer Laws will be law by Christmas.
We also owe a fresh start for Queensland to people like Lauren, whose dad Wayne tragically died while his ambulance was ramped outside the emergency department at Ipswich Hospital.
Queenslanders deserve access to world-class healthcare, no matter where they live, the LNP will restore health services when you need them.
Labor’s health crisis has left Queensland with the worst ambulance ramping in the nation, record long elective surgery waitlists and skyrocketing specialist waitlists.
Queenslanders aren’t getting the health services they need, when they need them.
That’s why the LNP will diagnose the underlying causes of Labor’s health crisis, treat the symptoms to ease pressure on our hospitals and provide a long-term cure to properly resource our health system to meet the needs of our growing state.
We’ll stop Labor’s patients’ tax, get ambulance ramping below 30%, put local frontline staff on health boards, deliver more CT and MRIs, more mental health services in our regions and deliver more doctors, nurses and paramedics.
We owe a fresh start for Queensland to people like Matt and Emily, who are struggling to pay the bills, which are increasing almost every week.
The LNP will have respect for your money by stopping Labor’s expensive failures and budget blowouts which are costing you more and giving you less.
We will lock-in immediate cost of living relief through rebates and cheaper transport fares, but we’ll also address the underlying systemic failures driving up costs. We’ll invest in long-term cost of living relief including with our electricity maintenance guarantee to drive-down electricity prices.
We also owe a fresh start for Queensland to people like Noah and Lara, who are making sacrifices to save but are still struggling to get their foot on the property ladder.
That’s why we will abolish stamp duty on all new homes for first buyers, so Queenslanders like them can get into their first house.
The LNP will unlock land for housing and kickstart new opportunities to deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders.
Your choice today is between a fresh start with a majority Crisafulli LNP Government or four more years of Steven Miles and Labor, propped up by the extreme greens or chaotic Katters holding the balance of power.
Dodgy deals between Labor and the minor parties will only make our problems with youth crime, cost of living, health and housing even worse.
There is a better way.
Queensland can have change but if you want change, you have to vote for it.
