The leaders have delivered their final pitches to voters ahead of Saturday’s poll, with one urging a vote for the devil they know, while the other urged voters to grasp the chance for change.

Rachel of Ascot asked “You have got one day to go. What’s your message for Queenslanders before they cast their vote and what have you thought answering readers’ questions each day?’’

Mr Crisafulli responded that he hoped people would “choose hope over fear’’.

“Vote for change. Vote for a fresh start,’’ he said.

“Don’t wake up with a fourth term re-elected Labor government propped up by the Greens and Katters.’’

He said he like answering the reader questions The Courier-Mail has put to the leaders every day of the 2024 campaign because he genuinely liked Queenslanders and liked to hear their views.

“The second (reason he liked the questions) is to see your (Ms McCormack’s) colleagues get very frustrated because you’ve got the last question on every single (press conference),’’ he said.

Mr Miles said in his final pitch that he had spent the past 10 months doing what he could to help Queenslanders on what mattered to them.

“I’ve not wasted a minute. We’ve taken those coal royalties and delivered them back to Queenslanders with the biggest cost of living package any government’s ever had,’’ he said.

“Those $1000 energy rebates, 50 cent fares, but a bunch of other stuff too.

“And now I’m going to this election seeking a mandate in my own right to keep doing more of those kinds of things.

“Our plan for housing, for cost of living, for community safety, for health care, is working and heading in the right direction.

“Now is not the time to throw out those plans that are working.

“There is so much doubt about where the LNP stands on every single front.

“David Crisafulli has dodged questions this entire campaign. He can’t give anyone a straight answer.’’

“With change comes risk. So if you can’t be sure, then you need to vote Labor because it is Labor that you know, it’s me that you know, who has answered questions and told you what I stand for.’’

When asked how he felt about answering the daily reader questions he quipped to the media pack: “Most have been better than your questions.’’
