Amanda Camm pledges support to Airlie Beach Bowls Club

A Whitsunday bowls club will install solar panels and improve its clubhouse if the LNP MP for the Whitsundays is re-elected this month.

A Whitsundays bowls club will get a big upgrade if the LNP get re-elected in October.

The Airlie Beach Bowls Club will receive a $100,000 investment to put in solar panels and go towards maintenance and improvements to the clubhouse.

Airlie Beach Bowls Club chairman John Brown said the LNP investment helped the club bypass the grant application and fundraising processes.

The LNP pledge will go to installing solar panels and maintaining the club house.

“These funds will allow us to get started on the upgrades straight away,” Mr Brown said.

“Besides being a necessity for the club from a safety point, the upgrades will also be a morale boost to the club and the community.”
Amanda Camm, the LNP member for Whitsunday, said the new solar panels would help the club become more energy efficient and reduce rising energy costs.

“This cost of living crisis is not only hurting families in our community but also our not for profit organisations,” Ms Camm said.

“We will help our community and sporting groups access the funding required to keep their infrastructure maintained to be safe and welcoming for the whole community to benefit.”

Labor candidate for Whitsunday Bauke Hovinga has been contacted regarding whether he intends to match the LNP’s commitment.
