One youngster celebrated her ninth birthday in style playing on the snowfields with her friends and family and tearing up the ice on the skating rink at the Snowflakes in Stanthorpe festival at the weekend.
Nine-year-old Evie Russell chose Snowflakes as her birthday destination as she “always wanted to see snow”.
“I thought it would be a pretty good experience down in Stanthorpe as it actually snows and it might be fun for my birthday,” she said.
“Winter is my favourite season as it’s the one I was born in and you get to see snow sometimes in parts of Australia and other countries so it’s really cool.”
Evie said she was ecstatic to receive a pair of ice skates from her father for her birthday and had fun gliding on the ice at the skating rink.
Evie’s mother Tamara said the Ipswich family now makes attending the biennial event a birthday tradition, having also attended the festival in 2019.
“It’s perfect timing for her birthday and she always wants to see snow,” Ms Russell said.
This year the Russell family came to the festival with Brisbane friends Dave and Spence Chin.
