RANKED: How every Stanthorpe school performed in NAPLAN – full list

The Granite Belt’s top academic schools have been named as the full list of every school’s 2021 NAPLAN results can be revealed for the first time in two years. SEE HOW YOUR SCHOOL COMPARES.

Stanthorpe’s top-performing schools have emerged as the state’s 2021 NAPLAN test results are finally revealed, making it the first time in two years the full results have been released.

Schools across Queensland have reportedly shown massive improvements in both literacy and numeracy, with the state also recording its best-ever results for Year 3 writing in 2021.

Granite Belt schools came out on top in the Southern Downs rankings for both primary and secondary schools, with Ballandean State School and St Joseph’s School ranked in top place respectively.

St Joseph’s also ranked third in the Granite Belt and fourth in the wider region in results for Years 3 and 5.

Principal Andrew Kendall said he was incredibly proud of the 2021 cohort’s performance.

“Whilst they are a snapshot in time, they reflect the high-quality teaching and learning that the school focuses on from Prep to Year 12,” he said.

“We are constantly developing the skills and knowledge of both our teachers and students to ensure successful outcomes for our students and develop them as lifelong learners.”

The remaining top five high school rankings across the region were rounded out by Assumption College and Scots PGC College in Warwick, Inglewood State School, and the School of Total Education.

St Joseph’s School ranked top in the Southern Downs region across all categories including reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and numeracy.

Following Ballandean in the primary school rankings across Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt was Applethorpe State School, Glen Aplin State School, and Greenlands State School.

Reading and grammar were the top two categories for almost all schools across the region, while spelling and numeracy typically saw lower results.

Education Minister Grace Grace announced with the release of the results on Wednesday that students would sit their tests in Term 1 instead of Term 2 from next year.

“Moving the test forward means that valuable dataset will be available earlier in the year to inform teaching and learning programs and to give parents information about their child’s performance earlier in the year,” Ms Grace said.
