From break-ins to drugs and assault, an average of more than 50 crimes have taken place in Stanthorpe each month during the past quarter.
Data from the Queensland Police Force dated April 10, 2021 – July 9, 2021 has revealed that 158 offences occurred across the Stanthorpe area within that time period alone.
Drug- and traffic-related crime accounted for almost half of that total with 43 and 36 respectively, followed by thefts and other property damage.
Stanthorpe recorded eight assaults, eight break-ins, and six weapons offences within the same period.

The Stanthorpe CBD accounted for 90 of the area’s total 158 crimes, with about a third of those concentrated along the main streets in town.
Only 25 offences were reported in nearby areas of the Granite Belt, including 11 near Thulimbah and six at Applethorpe.

The number of crimes committed in Stanthorpe steadily increased throughout the quarter.
Thirty-five offences were reported in April, followed by 51 in May and 59 in June.
Another 13 crimes have already been filed by Stanthorpe police officers since the beginning of July.
Offenders are nearly twice as likely to strike at midnight, 8pm, or noon than any other time of the day.
