Snowflakes in Stanthorpe will go ahead as planned this weekend, despite parts of the state heading into lockdown tonight.

Despite current COVID restrictions in place across the state there will only be slight alterations to the premier winter festival’s program.

Snowflakes in Stanthorpe media co-ordinator Robyn Henderson said the event will only have slight alterations to its program.

“Queensland sled dogs is the only confirmed cancellation, but we expect some exhibitors and food vendors to not be able to attend due to the restrictions,” she said.

Festival goers can still expect to be wowed at this week’s Snowflakes in Stanthorpe with a new laser light show, snow volcano making and amazing local acts to round out the three-day event.

Ms Henderson said a COVID safe plan had been put in place for the event.

“Visitors must remain physically distant from people who are not in your household or social groups and wear masks if directed by Queensland Health,” she said.

Queensland has been plunged into a snap three-day lockdown due to an outbreak of the highly contagious COVID Delta variant.

From 6pm Tuesday until 6pm Friday night, southeast Queensland, Townsville, Palm Island and Magnetic Island will go into a three-day lockdown.

The state had recorded four new cases of COVID in the past 24 hours, including two locally acquired.
