The pandemic wreaked havoc on the live entertainment industry and the Granite Belt did not escape unscathed.

But as life slowly inches closer toward normal, gigs and shows are returning to the Stanthorpe arts scene.

A Taste of Ireland: The Irish Music and Dance Sensation’s will touch down in Stanthorpe on May 5 as part of their Australian National Tour, bringing fun, humour and a “true Irish experience”.

Show promoter and dancer Ceili Moore said she was excited to share the show with the community.

“Regional towns have the best audiences and their appreciation for us is excellent,” she said.

“During COVID there hasn’t been much entertainment so we wanted to bring that to Stanthorpe.”

The show features some of the worlds best Irish dancers and performers and offers audiences the opportunity to watch live tap dancing.

“Unlike other Irish dancing shows, ours is unique as all the tapping from the dancers feet are performed live,” Ms Moore said.

Producer and director Brent Pace said Australians have always loved the live theatre experience.

“I have no doubt our tour will provide audiences with what they have been missing this last year,” he said.

Audiences can expect to see a very lively and energetic show that tells the history of Ireland through Irish craic (humour) and dance, Ms Moore said.

“A lot of what we believe to be Aussie humour really came from Ireland, there’s a lot of cultural crossover and that’s why Australian audiences relate so well to Irish craic,” she said.

“There’s something in it for everyone, from grandparents to people with young families.”
