Investigations are continuing into the “suspicious” fire that engulfed a home near Stanthorpe on Tuesday morning.

A police spokesman said officers had suspicions about who started the Wallangarra house fire but have not yet charged anyone with an offence.

Officers are not searching for any new suspects, as a 46-year-old male resident continues to assist police with their investigations into the “suspicious” fire.

“He is not in our custody at the moment,” the police spokesman said.

Despite initial police reports suggesting a neighbouring home had also been damaged, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said only one property on Ballawell Street was destroyed in the blaze.
