Women to celebrate all kinds of rural life

An opportunity to connect with other women during the challenges of the drought.

WOMEN from the town and country will be coming together to celebrate what it means to be a rural woman.

Burnett Inland's Women in Ag Day will be held at the Durong Hall from 9am to 3pm on Sunday March 3.

BIEDO CEO Kristy Frahm said it would be a celebration of rural women.

"We want to feature and celebrate women in our communities, not just farms, but all kinds of backgrounds,” she said.

"The purpose is to provide that opportunity for women to connect and grow their networks,” she said.

The event will coincide with Queensland Women's Week and will feature trade stands and presentations by rural women from the Burnett.

"It's about hearing stories that might inspire others, women who are running businesses, and are willing to share their stories, I'm keen to feature women from our region,” Ms Frahm said.

Ms Frahm said women in drought declared areas like the South Burnett need opportunities like this.

"We acknowledge that while it continues to be dry that presents challenges,” Ms Frahm said.

"This is more important than ever for people have the chance to come together and not feel isolated, and connect with others.”

There will also be a presentation from women's nurses to remind women the need to prioritise their health.

Everyone is welcome to the event and there will be complimentary morning tea and lunch included, courtesy of Northern Agriservices, and the Federal Government.

The event is also supported by the Federal Government through the strong and resilient communities program.
