Where to vote: Full list of South Burnett, North Burnett booths

From where to cast your vote to who is running in the seat of Maranoa, Wide Bay and Flynn, here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 federal election:

How does Australia’s preferential voting system work?

The final countdown is on until the nation decides who will run the country for the next term of government, as Australia goes to the polls on Saturday.

More than 7000 polling booths will be open across the country, including the North Burnett and South Burnett regions.

Polling stations open at 8am and close at 6pm on Saturday, May 21.

A last-minute change will also expand access to the phone voting for anyone who tested positive to Covid and were in isolation after 6pm last Friday.

While pre-polling continues until Friday, residents in the federal electorates of Maranoa, Wide Bay and Fisher will be able to vote on Saturday, May 21 at the following locations:

The number of Australians casting their vote before the May 21 election hit 3.9 million on Wednesday, up 10 per cent on the figure three days out from the 2019 election.

In the Maranoa federal electorate nearly 29 per cent of voters have already hit the polls, while 30.2 per cent in Flynn and 31.6 per cent in Wide Bay have cast their vote.

If trends continue, it will mean five million Australians (close to a third of eligible voters) will have already voted ahead of Election Day.

AEC enrolment data also reveals the voting pool is also significantly larger than three years ago, with 17,228,900 eligible Australians enrolled to vote, versus 16,424,248 in 2019 – an increase of 804,652 voters.

In Flynn, pre polling results show LNP’s candidate Colin Boyce and ALP’s candidate Matt Burnett are neck-and-neck in the race to replace retiring Nationals MP Ken O’Dowd, with current data leaning slightly in the favour of a coalition win.

Other candidates vying for the seat include Independent Duncan Scott, the Australian Greens’ Paul Bambrick, Great Australia Party’s Carla Svendsen, One Nation’s Sharon Lohse, and United Australia Party’s Tanya Wieden.

Incumbern Maranoa LNP candidate David Littleproud is the favourite to retain the seat over Labors Dave Kerrigan.

Other candidates include Unite Australia Party’s Nathan McDonald, Greens’ Ellisa Parker, One Nation’s Mike Kelly, Australian Federation Party’s Brett Tunbridge, and Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party’s Malcolm Richardson.

The same goes for Wide Bay, with LNP candidate Llew O’Brien expected to retain the seat over Labor’s Geoff Williams.

Other candidates include Independents Tim Jerome and Kelli Jacob, One Nation’s Nathan Buckley, United Australia Party’s Tracy Bennett, the Greens’ Craig Armstrong, Informed Medical Options Party’s Andrea Newland, Australian Values Party’s Daniel Williams, and Australian Federation Party’s John Woodward.
