Rugby league immortal Johnathan Thurston will be touching down in the South Burnett next week to speak with local kids about confidence, courage and self-belief.
In a three day tour of the region, the Cowboys legend will visit Kingaroy State High School, St Mary’s High School, Murgon State High School, Nanango State High School, and Yarraman State School, as well as the Kingaroy Red Ants Football Club and Murgon Men’s Shed.
The JT Academy, funded by the Tackling Regional Adversity through Connect Communities program, will allow young people across the South Burnett to ask the tough question about life after football and career opportunities.
The TRACC Program provides support to communities experiencing tough times through severe weather events, disasters, or other community crises.
“Not only does the TRACC Program respond after weather events, disasters and the like, but we have a real focus on promoting mental wellness and overcoming adversities, so who better than JT to come and share with the community about resilience and wellbeing through such a long and successful sporting career,” Regional Adversity Clinician Kristie Lambert said.
The JT Academy will visit the following locations:
Monday May 23:
Kingaroy State High School
St Mary’s High School
Kingaroy Red Ants Football Club
Tuesday May 24
Murgon State High School
Murgon Men’s Shed
Kingaroy Town Hall/Forecourt – public welcome from 4pm
Wednesday May 25
