RAIN is predicted to continue this weekend after what's been a very wet week in the South Burnett.

Weatherzone meterologist Tom Hough said Tuesday had the highest rainfall for the week.

"Kingaroy had 72mm of rain on Tuesday. The average rainfall for February is 78mm," Mr Hough said.

Tuesday was only 5mm below this month's average.

"The average is quite high this month following all the storms," Mr Hough said.

"Tuesday and Wednesday combined there was 77.4mm of rain."

On Wednesday Kingaroy received about 5.4mm of rain.

Mr Hough predicted more rainfall and a rise in temperature at the weekend.

"We're expecting about 5 to 10mm of rain each day until Tuesday," Mr Hough said.

"Conditions should clear up by Tuesday morning.

"Thursday was the coolest at 23 degrees. It will warm up now though. Friday should see a high of 26, rising to 28 on Saturday, and Sunday will be the warmest at 29 degrees."

The warm weather is not expected to last though.

Mr Hough said it will cool down by Monday, 26, and Tuesday, 27.

"Early next week, I'm talking Monday and Tuesday, it's going to cool back down to a high of around 27 degrees," Mr Hough said.

"There's a low pressure trough lingering south-west right now. This is gradually moving more northerly over the weekend as temperatures rise."
