Rebekah Ah Wang was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer in August 2022 and documented her journey on social media, sharing it with family, friends and other supporters on a similar journey.

Mrs Ah Wang, known as “Bek”, was born on November 6, 1991 in Murgon.

She studied at Murgon State High School and was a huge contributor to the region’s hospitality industry until she moved to Mackay in 2014.

She was a loving mother to Olena and Skylar and a devoted wife to Pauly Ah Wang.

Shortly after her diagnosis Mrs Ah Wang created the Facebook group Bek‘s Cervical Cancer Journey where she shared her experience with more than 150 members.

Mrs Ah Wang’s aunt, Rhonda Hayball, said from a young age Bek always wanted a family to make memories with.

“She would always travel to surprise friends, never missed a special occasion,” Mrs Hayball said.

“She may not have had a long life but she lived a full life.

“She has given all of us so many smiles and she will live on.”

Mrs Ah Wang especially treasured her Sundays with family.

“No matter the weather or what work had to be done she would always be working hard on dry, mustering days,” Mrs Hayball said.

“As a baby she would be on a bike on her mothers chest and as a child she would be on the back holding on,” she said.

Mr Ah Wang said it was “a difficult time” for the family “but know that she passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family and children around her”.
