South Burnett Regional Council prepares for September meeting
The presence of asbestos in at least two community structures is just one of the matters to be debated and voted on at the September council meeting.

The South Burnett Regional Council will tackle a number of community issues when it meets in Kingaroy on Wednesday morning.
Due to flood damaged roads contributing to the increase in deadly car accidents, the council will discuss and update the community on its flood recovery plan.
The list of declared events the council is dealing with this year is:
• Southern Queensland Heavy Rainfall and Flooding, November 10 - December 3, 2021;
• Ex-Topical Seth Rainfall and Flooding, January 7 - January 10, 2022;
• South East Queensland Heavy Rainfall and Flooding, 22 February - 7 March 2022;
• South Queensland Flooding, 6 May - 20 May 2022; and
• South Queensland East Coast Low, July 2022.
As presented at the Liveability Standing Committee Meeting on September 14, the issue of asbestos at Windera Park will be under the microscope, with the council expected to vote to proceed with the removal of asbestos containing materials and demolition of the Windera Park tennis shelter at a cost of about $25,000.
The removal of asbestos containing material in the garden bed edging to the western end of Kingaroy Memorial will also be voted on.
Installing Fish Habitat infrastructure at Bjelke-Petersen Dam is also on the agenda after it was raised at September's Livability Meeting.
