The results are in from our interactive poll where readers were able to grade their councillors and the South Burnett Regional Council’s performance during 2023.
Readers graded their councillors on a scale of A to E, with A the choice if they thought their councillor did a great job and E if their performance has been poor.
The results show Councillor Danita Potter and Councillor Kirstie Schumacher as the best performing councillors of 2023, receiving a grade of C or higher from of those who participated.
Ms Potter received 83 per cent of votes grading her a C or higher where Ms Schumacher received a score of 76 per cent.
Ms Schumacher received the highest amount of A scores of all councillors.
The two least preferred councillors were Mayor Brett Otto and Councillor Kathy Duff.
Mr Otto was the least preferred of all councillors, with 35 per cent of participants grading him a C or better.
Ms Duff received 47 per cent grading her a C or better.
Of the three councillors running for mayor this year, Ms Schumacher leads the poll followed by Councillor Gavin Jones receiving 67 per cent of C or higher and Ms Duff coming in third.
The South Burnett Regional Council received a passing grade with 68 per cent of participants grading the council a C or higher.
2023 was a colourful year for the council from the robust debate on multiple issues including the newly approved Tumuruu solar farm and the ongoing issues surrounding dog registration fees.
