With interest rates on the rise for the first time in more than a decade, first home buyers have celebrated an expected drop in prices and the chance to enter the market.
While experts say interest rate rises will likely help bring house prices down, they will also impact borrowing capacity.
Canstar crunched the numbers and found that for a couple on a combined income of $180,000, their borrowing capacity will drop by 2.6 per cent thanks to the recent 0.25 per cent rate rise, meaning they will be able to borrow $34,000 less.
Despite the drop, there are plenty of properties in the region that are priced to help get a foot in the door and the keys to a new home in your hands.
