New details have emerged on a terrifying double motorcycle crash in the South Burnett, following which a rider was flown to hospital on the weekend.

Police confirmed investigations are continuing, but said initial indications were one rider had stopped in the middle of the road when the second rider collided with the stationary bike.

Emergency crews rushed to the corner of Hazeldean and W Dugdell Roads at South Nanango at about noon on Saturday following the crash.

Two men were treated at the scene, with the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter landing in a paddock nearby to transport a man in his 60s.

That rider was treated for multiple traumatic injuries and flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The other man was taken by ambulance in a stable condition to Kingaroy Hospital.

It comes less than a week after two men lost their lives in a rollover North of Nanango.
