Man, woman, charged for alleged meth supply at Murgon, Cherbourg

New details have been revealed following a 10-month police operation across the South Burnett which led to about a man and woman facing almost 200 drug-related charges.

Alyson Imelda Gayton and Benjamin David Stolzenberg are facing almost 200 charges following their arrest over the alleged supply of methylamphetamine across the South Burnett region.

Queensland Police said in a statement that the arrest of the Stolzenberg, 51, and Gayton, 37, was the result of a 10-month police operation targeting the supply of the drug to Murgon and Cherbourg communities.

Operation Rumpel was launched in January by Murgon detectives using information from the public, investigative strategies, and other tactical actions across the South Burnett.

As part of the operation 30 other people were also arrested on 241 drug offences.

Police said the operation culminated with the pair’s arrest in Murgon on October 18.

It is alleged between January 9 and October 11 they supplied and trafficked methylamphetamines at Murgon.

They have been charged with 198 offences including 192 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, one count each of receiving property obtained from trafficking or supplying dangerous drugs, and one count each for possessing property used in the commission of a drug offence.

Ms Gayton was denied bail and Mr Stolzenberg did not apply for bail.

Detective Sergeant Martin Hunter from Murgon thanked the community for the information they provided throughout the course of the investigation.

“Operation Rumpel has put a significant dent in the drug trade in the area which has led to a safer community for both Murgon and Cherbourg,” Sgt Hunter said.

They were set to face the Murgon Magistrates Court on January 31, 2023.
