Thieves have targeted the Kingaroy Men’s Shed, stealing thousands of dollars worth of electrical tools, technology and cash overnight on April 12.

Shed representative Ralph Clark said it cut deep because the organisation was there to serve the community.

“When I turned up on Thursday morning all of the doors were open, windows and locks were smashed,” Mr Clark said.

“They broke in and damaged every room, including the toilet block,” he said.

Shed members discovered three laptops, a confidential hard drive, several cordless drills, saws and unknown amount of cash was missing.

Kingaroy resident Cassandra Clark posted:

“It breaks my heart to see a place where men give freely of their time and talents for the betterment of their community become a disaster area wrecked by people.”

Mr Clark said the thieves managed to rip a bolted safe from the counter.

“Every draw and cupboard was opened with the contents emptied and lashed on the floor,” Mr Clark said.

“Something like this really sets us back and it’s taken a huge emotional toll on all our members.

“The thousands of dollars worth of tools taken were purchased with the money we recently secured from a council grant.

“We are a safe place for men to come to talk about their feelings and mental health so this really restricts the work we can do,” he said.

Mr Clark urged anyone with any knowledge to come forward.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said investigations were ongoing.
