A police officer was injured when he was allegedly knocked to the ground on a St George street, with a local man now facing serious charges.
Officers were called to Taylor Street at 2pm on Friday, following reports a 46-year-old man was behaving in a disorderly manner.
Police will allege the St George man assaulted a policeman, knocking him to the ground and injuring his neck.
A police spokesman could offer no insight into the nature of the assault.
The man was arrested and charged with seriously assaulting a police officer.
He is due to appear in St George Magistrates Court on August 16.
