South Burnett children arrested over spate of vandalism in Murgon

Three South Burnett children have been arrested after carrying out a spate of vandalism in Murgon, including smashing car windows and spray painting shocking and vile messages about police.

Youth criminals need more than ‘a nice slap on the wrist’

A group of South Burnett children have been dealt with by police after they smashed car windows and spray-painted profane graffiti in an alarming spate of vandalism.

Police said three juveniles shattered the window of a car parked at a Murgon hardware store and spray-painted expletives on the left-hand side of the vehicle at about 5.30pm Sunday.

Murgon Police officer-in-charge Sergeant Brett Everest said the group also smashed the front driver’s side window of another car and spray-painted “FTP you s--t” on it.

The trio then went on to paint more profanities on a guard rail along Lamb Street before being taken into custody.

Two 14-year-old boys and a 13-year-old boy have been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act in relation to this matter.

Police are also searching for an unknown offender who attempted to break into the Coffee Bar on Lamb Street between 11pm and midday on Sunday.

Sergeant Everest said the person attempted to get in through the back door, damaging it in the process.

Investigations are continuing.
