South Burnett residents are continuing to make a simple error that is making thieves’ lives easier and costing themselves dearly.

Car thieves have targeted two Kingaroy vehicles in just days.

Police officer-in-charge David Tierney said last week had been quiet and uneventful but for the stolen cars.

“If people locked their houses and cars it may have been even better,” Sgt Tierney said.

On Saturday, offenders broke into a Redmans Rd property about 1.10am.

They entered through a door with the key left in it and then searched through a caravan on the property before stealing a Holden ute.

The keys for the vehicle were left in the vehicle, which was also unlocked.

It was found burnt out about 1pm that day on Lucas Rd, Coolabunia.

A Hyundai sedan was stolen from a Parkside Dr address in the early hours of Monday morning.

The vehicle was left unlocked in the driveway of the address. The vehicle was recovered after it was crashed into a fence in Bell Street, Cherbourg about midnight.

Investigations are continuing.
