A Murgon man accused of breaking into a Tablelands property last week, making off with a ride-on mower, has been denied bail by the Kingaroy magistrate.

Police allege that between 7.30am and 4pm last Wednesday, Mitchell McDonald, 27, broke into a Crownthorpe Road home and two sheds.

Mr McDonald allegedly ransacked the property, damaging windows and the back door of the house, before leaving with the ride-on lawnmower, Queensland Police reported.

The 27-year-old is facing a string of charges including burglary, wilful damage, and entering a premises and committing an indictable offence.

He was also charged with unrelated charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drug and unlicensed driving.

He appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday where he was refused bail.

Mr McDonald is due to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 1.
