Man charged with going armed, assaulting officers, after police shooting at Kingaroy

A man who was shot by police after allegedly going armed and assaulting officers at Kingaroy hospital has been charged.

A man will face court next month following a police shooting in Kingaroy.

Police were called to Kingaroy Hospital around 7.20pm on August 9 following reports of a man armed with a knife.

The man allegedly threatened officers with the knife and was subsequently shot by police.

Medical assistance was immediately provided to the man before he was flown to the Sunshine Coast Hospital.

The man remains in hospital undergoing further treatment.

No police officers were physically injured during the incident.

The 59-year-old Kingaroy man has been issued a notice to appear on one count of going armed to cause fear and three counts of serious assault police officer.

He is due before Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 18.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating and this is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
