Kingaroy court: Sean John Greaves allegedly found with child exploitation material on laptop

A Kingaroy man told a court someone else put naked photos of young girls on his computer, after a repair store staff plugged in his flat device before being confronted by the shocking images.

What to do if you think a child is being abused

A Kingaroy has been charged with distributing child exploitation material after IT staff allegedly plugged in his dead computer only to be confronted with shocking images of naked girls.

Sean John Greaves, 54, took the computer to a Kingaroy IT business on January 4, where staff put it on charge.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Lisa Manns told the Kingaroy Magistrates Court that once the laptop charged, images of naked children appeared on the screen.

Staff immediately called the police.

Sergeant Manns said the photographs depicted naked girls between the ages of 10 and 16.

Mr Greaves, who is currently in the process of seeking Legal Aid, said he didn’t know how the images got on his computer.

The 54-year-old told the court a range of images from a “naked woman with a baby” to nude geriatrics had appeared on his computer and he had taken it to the store to figure out how they got there.

“They’re not erotic photos. Someone put them on my computer,” he said.

Mr Greaves is also charged with possessing a knife and public nuisance.

He appeared in court via videolink from Maryborough Correctional Centre.

The matter was adjourned until July 25.
