Nanango residents are being urged to steer clear of one of the South Burnett town’s main streets after an unidentified white powder was reportedly found in an envelope in a ballot box at the town’s electoral office.
Multiple firefighting crews respond to the Drayton St address after the discovery, which happened about 10.40am.
An exclusion zone on Drayton St and nearby connecting roads has been established by the Queensland Fire Department as they work to identify the substance.
The powder was reportedly found in the ballot box, and the building was evacuated until the substance can be identified.
