Dylan Craig October caught driving hours before disqualification was lifted

A carpet retail worker won’t be allowed to drive until next year after he was caught behind the wheel hours before his licence suspension was due to lift.

Less than 12 hours before his driver's licence suspension was due to lift, Dylan Craig October was caught behind the wheel.

On September 8 at 3.40pm Kingaroy police pulled over October and found his licence was suspended.

October pleaded guilty at Kingaroy Magistrates Court to driving on a suspended licence.

Police prosecutor Lisa Manns said October’s license had been suspended due to an accumulation of demerit points.

“There was no emergency reason for him to be driving,” Ms Manns said.

“His suspension expired at midnight the day he was intercepted,” she said.

October said he thought his suspension had lifted that day.

“I got the days mixed up,” he said.

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair took into consideration October’s early plea and his employment at a carpet retailer.

“You must have just renewed your licence,” he said.

Mr Sinclair disqualified October from driving for further six months and ordered him to surrender his licence.

He was fined $500 and a conviction was recorded.
