Bianca Head pleads guilty to drug supply at Kingaroy District Court

The loss of her children was described as a “watershed moment” for a low-level street dealing mum.

A drug addiction that led to a mother losing the care of her children and appearing in court for low-level dealing has been described as a “tragedy”.

Bianca Head, 38, pleaded guilty at Kingaroy District Court on Thursday, October 13, to eight counts of supplying dangerous drugs.

Head’s home was raided by police on August 19, 2020, where they found methamphetamines hidden in her bra and messages on her phone showing evidence of supplying dangerous drugs.

Crown prosecutor Alex Stark said Head was a low-level street dealer.

“All eight counts are small quantities, five are meth and three are cannabis,” Mr Stark said.

“She has previous drug convictions all of a similar scale, the first entry on her history was 0.1g of meth.”

Defence barrister James Benjamin said Head became addicted to methamphetamine at the age of 28.

“She was in a relationship with a user, this is how she fell into using ice,” he said.

The court was told that in December 2021, Head’s children, aged 4 and 6, went to live with their father, due to her drug use.

“This was a watershed moment for her,” Mr Benjamin said.

“She attended drug counselling sessions.

“She is keen to return to her children and back to isolation from old habits and networks that exist around this area.”

Judge Vicki Loury said it was clear Head struggled with drug use for some time.

She said all convictions related to a small amount of methamphetamines.

“You have instructed that the events in December have made you realise you need to change your life,” Ms Loury said.

“It is a tragedy that a woman who makes it to her late 20s develops a drug addiction.

“You have taken a number of steps to demonstrate that you are focused on your rehabilitation and that you are choosing your children over drugs.”

Head was sentenced to twelve months prison for the first indictment and nine months for the second, with immediate parole.

Convictions were recorded.
