Cherbourg man charged after pair allegedly assaulted in violent home break-in

A 33-year-old man has fronted courted on multiple charges after an alleged violent home invasion at the weekend, in which a man and woman were assaulted with a hammer. Full details:

A couple were targeted in a shocking home invasion when two men allegedly broke into their Cherbourg home and attacked them with a hammer.

Police will allege the men kicked down the front door of the Bell Street home about 4.40am on Sunday.

They allegedly broke furniture and assaulted the residents with a hammer, leaving them both with injuries to their face.

A Cherbourg man fronted Nanango Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with entering a dwelling with intent while armed, and two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed.

He will remain in custody until his next mention on August 30.

Police investigations are still under way to identify the second alleged offender.
