Accused child sex offender hit with fresh rape charges

A 45-year-old man facing multiple rape and child sex offence charges appeared in Murgon Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where it was revealed he had been hit with fresh rape charges.
The man, who cannot yet be named for legal reasons, was originally charged with indecent treatment of children under 16, two charges of indecent treatment of children under 12, two charges of possessing child exploitation material, one charge of rape, and one charge of using a carriage service to access child exploitation material.
On Wednesday, new charges were included alongside the original charges, including one charge of the indecent treatment of a child under 16 and six counts of rape.
The man’s matter will be mentioned again on October 8, 2024.
Three other men had their matters mentioned in court on Wednesday, involving alleged crimes against children.
One man was charged with possessing child exploitation material and one charge of distributing child exploitation material.
Another man was charged with one count of cruelty to children under 16 years.
A fourth man faced three charges of carnal knowledge with or of children under 16 (procure to commit), one charge of the indecent treatment of a child under 16 (taking photographs), and one charge of maintaining an unlawful relationship with a child under 16.
None of the men entered pleas to any charges.
