A woman will face court accused of tampering with QR check-in codes at country pub

Police will allege the South Burnett woman altered the COVID check-in tools to steer unsuspecting patrons away from official sites and to a right-wing anti-vaccination website.

Queensland government makes COVID check-in app mandatory

A woman is set to face court on Tuesday accused of setting up fake QR codes that sent patrons of a country bar to an anti-vax website rather than the Queensland Covid check-in.

Queensland Police confirmed the 43-year-old woman was charged after allegedly putting up fake QR code notices at a licensed venue in Wondai in the South Burnett last month.

A spokeswoman said it will be alleged the woman entered the business on May 16 as a patron and placed a number of false QR check-in codes around the premises.

The South Burnett Times understands the QR codes sent users to a right wing, anti-vaccination website.

The 43-year-old Wondai woman has been charged with one count each of common nuisance, possess dangerous drugs and possess utensils.

She is due to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on June 29.
